Be Bop Deluxe- The Albums (1974 – 1976

A Little History
Be Bop Deluxe were created by guitarist/singer Bill Nelson. Developed in Wakefield, West Yorkshire in 1972, Be Bop Deluxe would certainly be signed to Harvest Records. Be Bop’s debut album is an outstanding glam rock initiative. The band are tight and audio excellent. While a strong effort, it’s not a consistent one. The band lean a little also greatly on the glam side of points, with the slower songs being some of the weaker parts of the album. This is additionally the only Be Bop cd with the original line up of Nelson, guitarist Ian Parkin, bassist Robert Bryan and drummer Nicholas Chatteron-Dew. There could be a reason why he spruced up the band come the next year. Still, this is an excellent yet not excellent cd.

Futurama (1975
Currently backed with bassist Charlie Tumahai and drummer Simon Fox, Nelson had created a new variation of Be Bop. Generated by Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker, Futurama leans more towards a modern rock and art rock audio. It’s a better cd than Axe Victim yet still has some weak points here and there (again, the slower tracks drag this). If anything, this was progression for the band with a new align.

Sunburst End Up (1976
Of the 3 cds in this set, Sunburst Finish simply could be the best of the initial three albums: utilizing what collaborated with the initial and second albums, the band had the ability to make something unique that was a superb cross between glam and progressive/art rock. Included in the line up was keyboardist Andrew Clark, embeding in area the line up that would act as the classic and last up on the band. Some of the tracks segue into each other and there’s a grand feeling to the songs on Sunburst Complete.

Along with the music, the collection comes with a 50 -something page booklet with lining notes from Bill Nelson and pictures. Nelson’s memories of each cd add more to the songs and make you value the albums much more. With this, The Albums is another wonderful collection of songs from Cherry Red Records. This set will be follow by The Cds: 1976 – 78 ( which will feature the band’s last two studio cds plus the online cd), which will certainly come out in September. If you missed the original increased collections of these cds or you simply wanted the albums, this is the readied to acquire.
